AACTA Meet the Makers - Producers

Meet the Makers3

Screen Producers Australia are pleased to announce
AACTA’s “Meet the Makers – Producers” session

Producing a television series isn’t for the inexperienced nor the faint hearted, but when it’s shot on location it adds another level of complexity.

Join Matthew Deaner, Executive Director, Screen Producers Australia as he chats with the producers of two of Australia’s most original and exciting TV series from 2014: David Taylor, The Code and Lois Randall, The Gods of Wheat Street.

David and Lois will share their experiences in shooting on location and talk more broadly about the challenges and joys of producing for television.

The Code, produced by David Taylor, an award winning, Emmy nominated Producer from Playmaker Media, is nominated in 10 categories for the AACTA Awards this year. This 6 x one hour exhilarating ABC political drama was created by Shelley Birse through Playmaker’s Scribe program and shot in outback and metropolitan areas across Australia: Canberra, Sydney, Silverton/Broken Hill in NSW and Cockburn in South Australia.

The Gods of Wheat Street, nominated for Best Original Music Score in Television for the ACCTA Awards this year, was created by a Wiradjuri and Bundjalung man, Jon Bell, and produced by Every Cloud Productions, Bell and fellow Northern Rivers Producer, Lois Randall. This inspiring 6 x one hour ABC series shot entirely on location in Coraki, Casino and Lismore in Northern New South Wales, tells the stories of the Freeburn clan, a modern Australian Aboriginal family of local legends where love, humour and magic are major ingredients in their lives.

The Gods of Wheat Street won Telemovie or Mini Series of the Year and Playmaker Media was named the Media Super Production Business of the Year at the Screen Producers Australia Awards in November 2014.
