George is a very experienced media executive. As controller of RTE One, he maintained the channel’s position as the most popular in Ireland. At Channel 4 Television he was Controller of Channel Management and at the BBC he has been Head of Scheduling for BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Daytime and for the whole of BBC Television and BBC iPlayer. 

Based in the UK, George is the Global Editorial Director, providing editorial leadership for BBC's global channels – including BBC First, BBC Brit and BBC Earth.

SPEAKERS

George Dixon is Global Editorial Director,  providing editorial leadership for our global channels – including BBC First, BBC Brit and BBC Earth.   Prior to this George was controller of RTE One, where he maintained the channels position as the most popular in Ireland whilst reinvigorating programming strategy to attract younger and more upmarket audiences.  In 2011 George joined Channel 4 Television as Controller of Channel management, leading the scheduling and acquisitions team.  During his time at C4, he created the channel template for 4Seven and secured key series for the portfolio including Homeland.  George previously spent a number of years in BBC Television as head of scheduling for BBC Daytime, BBC TWO and BBC One.  Before leaving the BBC in 2011 he was head of scheduling for BBC Television, overseeing the entire public service portfolio and BBC iPlayer.

Matthew Deaner is our Executive Director. Matthew sits across all aspects of Screen Producers Australia's advocacy work, industrial negotiations, events and operational issues. He also works closely with our Council to set the strategic direction of the organisation as well as identify and execute new business development opportunities.
