Join us in June to hear tales from, Paolo Bertolin, the South-East and Asia Pacific selector for the Venice International Film Festival.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET SELECTED AT A PRESTIGIOUS FILM FESTIVAL?

Paolo Bertolin is a Correspondent Programmer for the Venice International Film Festival, and is currently in Sydney, supported by Screen Australia, to view new Australian feature films. His extensive career as a consultant and programmer has taken him across the world, where he has worked on events including Cannes Critics' Week, Nyon Visions du Réel, Udine Far East Film Festival and the International Film Festival Bratislava. Moreover, he has curated programs and contributed to film presentations and Q&As at IFFRotterdam and Berlinale Forum. In 2013 Paolo was a member of the Sydney Film Festival Offical Competition Jury.

As film critic and journalist, he published articles and essays in several Italian and international publications, including Il Manifesto, Cineforum, Cahiers du Cinéma, Positif, Senses of Cinema, The Korea Times, and MyMovies.it.

Join Matthew Deaner as he chats with Paolo about the role of film festivals from Sydney to Switzerland, programming for the prestigious Venice International Film Festival and where Asia and Pacific films sit within an international context.

Matthew Deaner is our Executive Director. Matthew sits across all aspects of Screen Producers Australia's advocacy work, industrial negotiations, events and operational issues. He also works closely with our Council to set the strategic direction of the organisation as well as identify and execute new business development opportunities.

Paolo Bertolin is a Correspondent Programmer for the Venice International Film Festival and was a member of the Sydney Film Festival Offical Competition Jury in 2013.
