Screen Producers Australia, in association with ScreenWest, will present a masterclass on the industrial fundamentals that apply to all Australian screen production businesses. For producers who currently employ or intend to employ staff, this masterclass will bring awareness to the rights, obligations and responsibilities of producers including the following:

What needs to be taken into account when contracting?
What are the legal requirements regarding wages, taxation, superannuation, working hours, leave, public holidays, and termination?
This vital masterclass will provide an important introduction to the fundamental industrial instruments including the Fair Work Act, the National Employment Standards, the Broadcasting and Recorded Entertainment Award, and Enterprise Bargaining Agreements including the impact of potential government changes to maternity leave, adverse action and unfair dismissal.
In particular, attendees will also gain an invaluable understanding of how the statutory instruments work in concert with the agreements negotiated by SPA with unions and guilds.
